Steps and Skips Game
Steps and Skips Game
A quick student-tested and approved card game offers a fun way to reinforce skips and steps, as well as moving up and down to different octaves.
Some students love to end their lesson with a quick game, and this student-tested and approved card game offers a fun way to reinforce skips and steps, as well as moving up and down to different octaves.
Students draw a card and follow the instructions – usually to shouts of glee or groans of despair depending on if they are moving up by skips or down by octaves.
Students can
use anything they like as a marker, but a Starburst is a hands-down favorite.
The winner can be determined any number of ways, but the goal is to be the furthest up the keyboard once all the cards are drawn or the next lesson comes in the door.
