Technical Difficulties Made Easier
A handy reference chart to help solve those tricky technical issues.
Here’s a reference chart of the tips, tactile tools and resources I use to help students develop proper technique at the piano. The word technique is defined as HOW to play vs WHAT to play.
Follow this link for the foundations of a healthy technique.
Some advice:
Tip #1 Make proper technical habits stick by “selling” them with a solid rationale.
Example: Want to play fast? Quick fingers need to be the same length which means fingers need to remain rounded, firm and in a straight line.
Tip #2 Convince students to use proper technique by inviting them to experience the opposite.
Example: Play a scale as fast as you can with flat, french fry fingers.
