Because the duet features mostly black keys, it got its name—Black Tie Affair.

The premise behind the piece? The three characters on the cover art have been invited to a black tie affair, and they’d rather not go.

Lyrics that follow the storyline help players to learn the patterns for both parts. Or, players are encouraged to make up their own!

Because the primo and secondo are played mostly on black keys, the piece can be easily taught by rote. 

Tutorial videos accompany your purchase and show how to play the piece section by section. These can be shared with a link with students. In addition, there are MP3 audio files for each part.

What sets this duet apart is that players must switch to the other side of the piano several times while keeping in time!

There’s a special twist at the end when pianists must crossover each other and get tied up in knots!
