NEW! Angels We Have Heard On High
It has to be one of the most beloved carols of all times thanks to the angels' chorus. You can't help but sing along!
The idea of creating a syncopated piano solo arrangement of the tune “Gloria” came to me one day and I couldn’t let it go.
As I pieced it together, it seemed appropriate to play the driving arrangement with a backing track. Someday I hope to play it with a REAL band!
This setting of the French carol is geared towards intermediate-level players who enjoy colorful chords and like to groove. It would be a joyful addition to a Christmas recital.
It’s also ideal for busy church pianists looking for something accessible that echoes the anticipation and joy of the Christmas season. Because of the well-defined sections and the “night-sky” interludes, it’s easy to cut or lengthen the piece as needed.
Performance Tips
This arrangement is meant to rock with a steady beat. It’s notated in 4/4 time to make it easier to read the chords and rhythm patterns. When ready to increase the tempo, feel it in two big beats per measure or cut time.
Chord symbols are included so that you can add your own style to the arrangement or simplify it if you like!
In the video of my performance, I play along with a Funkyhouse rhythm style on the Clavionva with the tempo set at 120.
Since I hope to play this with a band some day, a chord chart may be available at 88pianokeys,me so you can play it with your band, too.
