Eight years ago, Bradley Sowash and I became friends as we worked alongside each other planning creative conference tracks for MTNA and later for NCKP. Our efforts led to an unforgettable collaboration with our mutual friend, the late Forrest Kinney. I
With all this conference planning under our belts, Bradley and I co-founded 88 Creative Keys. We saw the need to offer dynamic, interactive workshops to help teachers teach creativity and teach creatively.
We ended our formal business partnership in 2019 as we were both weary of keeping up separate careers along with the 88CK workshops and webinars. It was tough making our next one as good as the one before and were both ready to add more margin to our lives.
So, it was fun to reconnect with Bradley in this episode because he has influenced my teaching and my creative pursuits more than anyone else!
There’s no one in the business—in my opinion—who knows how to break down stylized improvisation into manageable, cleverly named steps quite like Bradley.

Bradley Sowash is a jazz pianist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, author and educator known for his innovative online group jazz piano classes, acclaimed keyboard improvisation books, and engaging presentations at conferences, webinars and 88 Creative Keys workshops which he co-founded. In addition to creating many resources for music teachers, he also self-publishes works for ballet, big band, choir, church musicians film, orchestra, solo piano and string quartet.
