"Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini" Op 43

Pianist: Yuja Wang

Paganini was a famous violinist and composer during the Romantic Period who wrote the theme to Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini" Op 43, a piano concerto shown below. Sergei Rachmaninoff was a Russian-born pianist from the early 20th century known for his piano playing and conducting. Yuja Wang  could be considered today's hottest female "rock star" of the concert pianist scene.

 

"Night on Bald Mountain" by Modest Mussorgsky transcribed by Dubov for piano

Pianist: Andrey Dubov

Most may recognize this as an orchestral piece featured in Disney's Fantasia movie.

 

"Flight of the Bumble Bee" by Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov

Pianists: Sonya Belousova and Arturo Cardelus

The piece was originally composed as part of an opera. Today it is one of the most familiar classical works because of its frequent use in popular culture.

 

Music From the 20th Century ( 1900-2000)

"Star Wars, Suite for 5 Pianos" by John Williams, arranged by Greg Anderson

Pianists: The Five Browns

Here's an excerpt from an arrangement called "Star Wars, Suite for 5 Pianos" played by  The 5 Browns. John Williams composed the music for the Stars Wars movies. The 5 Browns are siblings who grew up together playing the piano and have now made a career of it.
