Organ Music Lent/Easter 2012
Just finished the Lenten and Easter Season and here are some organ pieces I count as "play-it-agains". Please forgive, none of these titles are hyper-linked. Let me know if you need more info.
Michael Burkhardt's "Thine is the Glory" is a collection of accessible but pleasing pieces. Check out all of them. This year I played Jesus, Keep me Near the Cross and Jesus, Priceless Treasure. I LOVE "Christ the Lord is Risen Today!
John Leavitt's Lift High the Cross": What a triumphant way to end an Easter service--love this tune and arrangement.
Robert Powell's "Easter Carillon": Never counted as much in my life but it had an effective appeal for opening a Easter service. For organ and brass.
"Prayer of St Gregory" by Hohvannes (sp?) was hauntingly beautiful especially with a rock star trumpeter!
